In this interactive webinar, George Rehrey will discuss the relationship between the theory of Complex Adaptive Systems in Higher Education (Siemens et al. 2019) and the Learning Analytics Research Collaborative (LARC), one of the four Research Action Clusters within the BVA. Led by Indiana University Bloomington, the other BVA institutions engaged in the LARC are the University of British Columbia, the University of California Davis, the University of Kansas, and the University of Saskatchewan. Rehrey will share narratives that highlight some of the commonalties and differences between the various learning analytic programs at each these school, and how they can be framed within Molinaro’s Cycle of Progress for Sustainable Change (2018).
George Rehrey is the founding director of Indiana University’s Center for Learning Analytics and Student Success (CLASS). Prior to that, and from 2007-18, he was the director of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Program at Indiana University Bloomington. His current research focuses on faculty use of learning analytics, big data and predictive modeling as a way to advance student success at the course, program and institutional levels within higher education. This research also includes understanding the influence social and economic reward systems may have upon academic development programs.
