This project is a partnership between the Bay View Alliance, the Accelerating Systemic Change Network (ASCN), and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). The goal is to better develop the connection between work on widespread improvement of teaching and learning in higher education, and the financial decisions that higher education institutions make. We know that better teaching, learning and student success brings positive financial benefits to institutions, but there is a lack of consensus and clarity around how to best align financial decisions with inclusive teaching effectiveness.
The FAITE project hosted a meeting in February 2024 on this topic at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Headquarters in Chevy Chase, Maryland. The event brought together teaching and learning change agents, skilled practitioners of student learning analytics, and campus business officers. The goal of the meeting was to determine how we might help institutions make better, more informed financial decisions to support educational practices that support student success. A two-page meeting summary reflects a consensus among participants about the importance of co-leadership, cross-silo conversations, and integrative, transparent decision-making in strategically addressing institution-level academic challenges by sustainably leveraging institutional budget processes to effectively and equitably supporting student success
